Blog Post #11: Introduction

Without an introduction a paper has no direction and just places the reader into the subject without any background. An audience without any background is likely to not continue reading the paper due to confusion. A good introduction consists of many different aspects and can be outlined to allow a new writer to easily follow the steps to create an effective introduction.

The first thing an introduction needs is a point to catch the interest of your audience and allow them a slight insight into the subject. Second is a short but more detailed insight into your points. Finally you express your argument in a thesis statement and layout an outline of your paper to guide your audience into what they can expect.
